Trayvon Martin and Jordan Davis Dead Because They’re Black?

What if everyone "stood their ground?"

What if everyone “stood their ground?”

U.S. has Declared Open Season on Teenage Black Boys.

My sympathies go out to all the African American mothers of teenage sons across the U.S.  Honestly, I can say I thought that as a country we had come further since Martin Luther King Jr. walked this land than this.  Two teenage black boys shot and killed because they didn’t cow tow to lighter skinned males.  What is wrong with this country?  And, we keep passing out handguns to nut cases so they can “stand their ground.”

I am not anti-guns, my a-father started me shooting when I was about 8 years old with my first BB-gun, and I dropped my first deer, with one shot, when I was 14 years old with a high powered rifle.  I claimed my a-father’s gun collection when he died in 2000.  But there is something seriously wrong with unnecessary gun handlers who believe they are more empowered than the police; almost God like.  Personally, I believe anyone outside the police department caught carrying a handgun should be prosecuted.  In my opinion, you’re just trolling for trouble.

As the mother of a dark skinned teenage African American, I’m terrified.  My son first came to live in a predominately white community at the age of 14 years old, and was immediately frisked by the City police in front of the local movie theater where he was standing with his white girlfriend.  Welcome to Hooterville.  My husband and I were both dumb-struck.  My son is very handsome (I’m not being prejudice), an honor student, a captain on his high school basketball team, on the student council, participates in community theater, and also participates in school theater and choir.  He’s a great son; we’re very proud of him.  I’m also concerned about him taking my 2012 Dodge Journey for fear that he will be harassed for driving “too nice” a car for a black teen.  He’s even said it himself.

Why do I say the U.S. has declare open season on teenage black boys? Because, our legislators, senators, and President could stop it.  And, they could stop it quickly.  After the shooting in Sandy Hook, I thought a group of vulnerable little white kids might move some hearts, but no, money seems to be the only thing that moves hearts in this country.  Especially, among the most powerful.

I especially want to give condolences to the families of Trayvon Martin and Jordan Davis, I can’t imagine your grief.  Plus, my condolences to the other families who have lost children because of the legalized “stand your ground” massacres that are going on around the country.  And YES, they are legalized massacres.  When will this end?

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.  Edmund Burke
